KALEIDOSCOPE SINGERS Conductor ZOE PEATE
In 2002 Val, Joy and their husbands John & Don (treasurer) invited Zoe to form a new chamber choir in Steyning and the Kaleidoscope Singers choir was born. We have had a long and varied 23yrs and for the last 13yrs the majority of the members here today have remained the same – we like to think we have a great bond – not only as singers but as friends.
Its been another busy time for the choir but one of the highlights of last year was travelling to Bolton to share a wonderful concert and weekend with the BMS Singers, The Tonge in the Haugh Community Choir and their energetic and charismatic conductor Jane Hampson – mother to our youngest bass member Tom – hence the connection!
In 2024 we performed for the first time in St Nicholas Church in Arundel – a super venue with lovely acoustics and then, in the autumn, at the fabulous Champs Hill Concert Hall in Pulborough – a stunning place to visit and to perform.
This year we welcome five new singers to Kaleidoscope which brings a new dynamic to the choir with new friendships being made. With them we have performed at All Saints, Lindfield, Holy Trinity, Cuckfield and on June 14th, St Marys, Billingshurst with Billinghurst Primary School Choir.
We look forward to our Fairytale Christmas concert on the 13 December at the Steyning Centre and in 2026 a collaboration with Brighton Chamber Choir with their director Ruth Kerr.
